what is art?

What is art? It is the thread that ties your child’s room together. It sparks your child’s imagination. If you have a large expanse of wall, you might consider a mural. Local mural artists like Nichelle Notabartolo (512.669.6232) or Leigh Watson (512.736.3331) can design and paint anything your heart desires. Murals are a great option for the wall behind the crib, where, for safety reasons, it is best not to hang framed art. If something less permanent is more your taste, traditional framed or canvas prints might work better for you. Oopsy Daisy carries an incredible selection of canvas prints. They are suitable to be hung as-is or framed by your favorite framing shop. Consider hanging a grouping of 2 or 3 pieces together on the wall above the changer or the glider. Mirrors are also a nice option over the changing table. Mirrors reflect light and add space visually to small rooms. Also, babies love to look at themselves–a mirror by the changer can help keep them distracted while diaper-changing. Be sure to have your mirror mounted securely to the wall so baby can’t pull it down. I also love anything personalized for a child’s room. My favorite personalized art pieces are metal or wood name plaques by local Austin artist Jennifer Warner of Salvage-Style. Plaques can be customized to match your decor. They also add some texture and dimension to the room. She also makes beautiful metal butterflies that look like they could just fly off the wall! These are just a few wonderful options for your child’s room. Stop by the store! We’d love to help you find the perfect art for your child’s room.
